Overview
I recruited in the construction industry, specifically on the trades and labour desk. This included business development calls and meetings with construction clients to get jobs in. Followed by marketing, networking, reviewing applications and CV's to fill jobs with candidates. I would then make sure candidates had right legal documents to work for us at Hays. As it was mainly temporary recruitment I also had to manage candidate's time sheets.
Skills
New skills I developed massively were: communication, time management, sales skills, marketing, working under pressure and my overall professionalism.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given the responsibility of running my own desk. Once I had learnt how to best structure my days and the ins and outs of my role my managers had confidence in me and left me to my own devices to grow my desk. Although if I ever needed help they would always be there to support me.
Support & Guidance
I had a great team where every single member was always happy to help me out whenever it was needed. I also received high quality training online and in person at Hays.
Culture
It was a great culture. Everyone works hard and likes to be busy. There is also great culture with regards to games and quizzes in the office on period end and a drink if you chose to. People would win awards and be celebrated for their successes. There was also days where you can go and do charity work and Hays will fully support this and wouldn't need to take annual leave for it.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a great first step into the corporate world. My personal development has excelled massively benefiting me for university and also my career. I also made friends for life there.
Yes
Just do it! Even if you are nervous get stuck in and give it your all you will certainly not regret it!
