Overview
Oversee meetings and take minutes, asking insightful questions. Providing any support I can to the team. I will attend client site roughly 3 times a week. I may get asked to make PowerPoint presentations and slide decks for the senior members of the team to present. I may also get asked to conduct some data analysis on some metrics, so that my team can easily report this to the client. We also have bi-weekly problem solving sessions, where my opinion is asked, and my solution is offered and discussed.
Skills
I have learnt numerous new skills. I have become far more advanced, using the basics of Microsoft, such as Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft One Note. Furthermore, I am currently inducted on courses offered by udemy, where I can learn advanced data analytics and programming skills, for example visualising my data using Power BI. I have also developed my communication skills, tailoring the way I communicate to the person I am conversing with.
Responsibilities
No, I wasn't given a high level of responsibility, as my project mentor and manager would check and confirm each piece of work I did before my work was sent to the client. This was a positive as it allowed and gave me the freedom to attempt new things without the fear of messing up on a project, as my work would be sent to my team before the client. However, being on client site is a high responsibility in itself, as I am representing Deloitte and my team, whilst interacting with the client daily.
Support & Guidance
I received a sufficient level of support ans guidance during my internship. I had a great team around me consisting of my project mentor, my project manager, two colleagues and a director, all on my project to help support and guide me. Further, my people lead who is a senior manager would meet up with my weekly to keep checking in on how I am doing and would offer their support in case I required it. The buddy system and the scheme reps were also available always for extra support.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was very positive in my experience. It seemed like my colleagues had all developed the system instilled within Deloitte, which looked similar to a work had and play hard structure. This was very suited to me. Also, generally everyone was really friendly and accommodating, whenever I needed any assistance in any way shape or form.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship to a great extent. It was a fantastic opportunity to facilitate my learning and development, giving my great exposure to the world of work. Further, at the same time, there were amazing socials giving me great opportunities to connect with the other interns, and form meaningful and lasting relationships.
