Overview
Daily tasks involve completing risk assessments, reviewing and documenting controls, testing of key account areas, and testing journals. Daily interactions with engagement team - providing updates External interactions with clients - providing updates, requesting evidence for testing.
Skills
Developed communication skills in a profession environment, both written and verbal. Developed analytical skills through testing and analysis of entity accounts. Developed organisational and time management skills as I would often be managing multiple tasks at once under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was responsible for all the tasks that I was assigned and these included testing of key account areas. I was also responsible for communications with the client regarding any of the account areas that I was testing. I was supported by senior team members who were always there to help if needed.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of training during my placement. I also received good support from senior team members and they explained each area of the audit to me in detail and ensured I had the correct information in order to complete my assigned tasks. They were also always available to answer any questions.
Culture
The company culture was very good with a good sense of striving for improvement and development. There was also a flexible working atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement a lot as it gave me the opportunity to learn a lot from more experienced colleagues and develop a lot of skills that would be important to me in the future. I also had the opportunity to sit two ACA examinations and start the process to becoming a chartered accountant.
