The Role
The placement took place during the great change within the organisation. I had too take much more responsibilities then initially planned. Sometimes it was very hard to juggle few bosses at a time but the experience gained overall was invaluable.
This was not a typical student job. I was full member of my team and I was treated accordingly.
I had THE BEST manager one can ever have. He was approachable and very helpful.
Very busy at all times. Sometimes I had to stay late to finish my work.
Responsibilities were shared among the team members. I took the equal share of the workload.
This was a life changing experience for me. I learned loads from my superiors as well as from my team members.
The Company
Very dull. This placement is not recommended for people who are looking for some fun experience.
I was given innitial training and password for internal website for learning. My manager was very supportive if I needed any help. He also explained all new tasks very well so I had no real problems. As for the social side it was non-existent. I had no contact with the other placement students and there was nothing communicated to me regarding that.
Company provided me with password for the internal training website. I managed to get some accredited certification for the business field. Other than that there was no other development potential from the company. However I believe that this was compensated by management heavily investing their time in me. I was given the first class training from ACA and ACCA chart holders. I could not have asked for more.
Xerox is worth considering as a long term employer as there are plenty of benefits for the permanent staff members.
The Culture
I have no idea as I had no contact with the other placement students.
I would not even send my enemy to live in Hemel Hempstead! It is a seriously boring place and it is expensive!
Non-existent ( unless you are desperate enough to socialise in the only "chav central" club in town.
0 opportunities.
