    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an intern, day-to-day work will include assisting members within the actuarial team on current projects. For example, working with powerbi to aid with business analytics and exploring new client opportunities, or preparing and aiding to deliver updates for monthly meetings. Interns will also learn via presentations from team members in the department, explaining aspects of the business.

  • I've become competent in operating in powerbi and also built upon my communication skills working within a team. Other tasks have allowed me to develop my ability to digest and summarise a large amount of information.

  • The culture was very friendly and supportive. There was no competitiveness in the team but rather a want to help each other to succeed

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved the internship in all of its aspects - professional and social. The induction process was quite slow, as it look a week and a half for me to be assigned to projects. However, this improved with time and I started to really enjoy what I was doing.

  • Relax and be yourself - they want to see someone who is switched on and has strong interpersonal skills. You don't have to know anything about the industry so don't stress about needing to be an expert.
