Overview
Networking with colleagues, getting to know what their work entails and getting involved with the work they do. Helping out with projects and supporting in any way you can whilst learning on the job. It also involved shadowing meetings etc.
Skills
I've learnt to become better at time management as having multiple things to do at the same time with certain deadlines allowed me to work faster. The ability to pick up information quickly is also key which I feel I have utilised well.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility but knowing the fact that it would be double checked and that there is time to make further corrections was helpful. If I was stuck, I also knew that I could go to someone for help.
Support & Guidance
We were assigned a counsellor and a buddy as points of support. We would catch up regularly and they were there to answer any questions or help me if needed.
Culture
Everyone was nice and willing to help. I was able to meet most people and at least have a chat about how they got to EY and the work they undertake in their service line.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the work I did and getting to know the people in my team. I also met a lot of interns and was able to make lots of friends which was really nice. I had the chance to work on projects that were quite interesting and was able to understand the work that EY does.
Yes
EY has a good work environment and although it is part of the Big Four, there's no need to be scared. It gives you good exposure and people are very understanding of the fact that you are a beginner. I would say to go with an open mind, work hard, meet lots of people and try to get the most out of it. And be yourself!
