Overview
This would depend entirely on the buddy you have been assigned to, the project you have been put on, the stage of this project, your project manager, your counsellor etc. My day to day was very laid back and relaxed for the most part consisting of sitting in on client calls, working with graduate consultants on more micro tasks and learning about the project and client. Non project related activities and work was also introduced such as fundraisors or mini projects etc.
Skills
Learnt the importance of taking initiative, and being professional and accessible as consistently as possible. Communication is also key as you are communicating with a range of clients of various status and as an intern, you may feel intimidated. Organisation as well, to ensure you are always on time, are able to fulfil your duties etc.
Business Insight
One of the best ways to learn about different roles in the industry and their respective tasks and day to days. You are able to network with many individuals and ask about their own work whilst also experiencing first hand with people in your project what certain positions get allocated.
Culture
Great in the sense there was a lot of freedom and next to no micro management. Very flexible working times and working weeks so a lot of trust is put into yourself.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it in the sense I felt I was learning a lot from it. At times I did get bored due to a lack of work or due to the type of work however as an intern I dont think you can be too picky with these things, especially when interning at a big 4 and knowing the hierarchy
Yes
just like any other internship, do your research before hand and even reach out to other people on linkedin if you are keen. Can always be a great insight into the company and role.
