Overview
Mostly shadowing my manager's work calls as well as being given tasks that a full time employee would be expected to do, with the supervision and help from my manager. Working on a business project and attending sessions to develop professional skills.
Skills
Learnt new Data Analytics skills as well as developed my professional communication skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was doing actual work that would be used in audit reports unlike other internships that, I've heard from where people are just creating intranet sites. So happy that my work was not superficial.
Support & Guidance
There was a bunch of support pathways within the Bank and even though I didn't fully need them it was nice to know they were there. We were also supported a lot in our first week by the early careers team to ensure we on boarded smoothly.
Culture
The company culture is very good. Everyone is friendly and managers and interns all work in the same environment to it feels like everyone is an equal. Is not too corporate and your not expected to come dressed in a shirt and tie everyday which is nice.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my internship a lot. It gave me a good insight into the corporate world without it being too full on but still being treated as if I wasn't temporary an given meaningful work. Was also nice to network with different parts of the company as well as other interns.
Yes
They focus a lot on who you are as a person rather than your skills. Being confident and sure of yourself will go a long way and being friendly and approachable will also help your chances of securing a job.
