Overview
Attending training sessions on various actuarial topics. Working on various internal projects on a wide range of fields. Participated in weeklong virtual reality task involving a group presentation.
Skills
Learnt presentation skills, organisational skills, time management skills and developed actuarial knowledge.
Responsibilities
Yes, there were various projects which you had to work on independently. Some work you had to organise yourself with the other interns.
Support & Guidance
A lot of guidance and support was provided. Every intern has a 'buddy' who will be an almost mentor figure who you can ask any questions to. Every intern also had a 'counsellor' who was more senior which had a similar role to a 'buddy' but also gave back feedback.
Culture
Company culture was very good. A lot of trust within the team - i.e. no pressure to stay late, no questions if leaving early or arriving late. Very friendly open atmosphere which had very good emphasis on work life balance.
Your Impressions
Enjoyed it very much, great time with the team and other interns as well as engaging work.
Yes
Be open, friendly and collaborative. The culture wants employees to ask questions and work together. Don't try to show off or do everything yourself.
