    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was trained up virtually during the first week for 3 days, I was showed how to use the different software and various company qualities. I then shadowed specific team members and completed work they assigned me. I worked on an intern purpose challenge which involved helping out a charity achieve their goals, when I had free time, which we then had to present in the final week. Also, we had a charity day where we helped a local farm.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt how to use the companies specific technology, and I have learnt how to use sheets more effectively. As, before I did not know the specific shortcuts which could be used. I also feel more confident after presenting to different partners. As initially I was not as confident. But I definitely feel over the past four weeks I have become better at giving presentations. I also feel like I have had to make very good connections with the other interns.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was allowed access to documents and I felt like I made a difference, I was allowed to edit them and help with half year reports. Also I felt responsible to make sure that I got the job done right so I made sure that I asked for help when I needed it. Also, we were asked to attend various client calls which I made sure I turned up on time for. I also had to make sure that I was being confidential with any documents I got given to work on.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received lots of support whilst my time being here, everyone is genuinely so helpful, you get allocated a buddy, a career coach and paired up with another intern. You can ask anyone for help and they would be more than willing to help as that's the kind of environment it is. Also, before you are given any work your team with thoroughly explain anything you need to complete. You can always ask them again if you don't understand.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The general atmosphere is so friendly and it was so inclusive. Everyone is always walking around with a smile. There was discounts on mondays and fridays in the canteen so that definitely made a lot of people happy, there was also free fruit provided showing that the company really cares for its workers and shows they really are investing into us. Also, the volunteering days show how much the company wants to give back to the community.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time here. It feels like it has flown past. I don't feel like I have been here for very long at all! I loved getting to know all my team, the company hosts many socials so that you get to know everyone very well. I felt like I had a good workload most of the time. I enjoyed getting to present to the two partners and I loved the interns on my team as well.

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • I would say apply as early as you possibly can. If you get rejected apply again, as thats what happened to me and I was successful the second time around. There are many stages so I would say take each stage as it comes, try and prepare for the assessment centre as much as you can before hand and be confident! I would also say be yourself and be willing to learn and help others.
