The Role
Really enjoyed my placement at GSK and the job which I was assigned suited my skill sets and ambitions for the year.
GSK and the team I worked in really made an effort to make you feel valued as an employee.
My manager and director gave me as much support as I wanted throughout the year and made my experince even more enjoyable.
It quite often depends how proactive you are but I was very busy all throughout the year.
After a few months I was given a lot of responsibility which included running my own projects.
The skills I’ve develop will benefit me when going back to university but also when I start a new job. I plan to continue my 9-5 working routine when I return back into education.
The Company
It is very friendly in the office and made socialising with other work colleges easy.
A lot of effort was taken to successfully organise the set up and all events have worked well.
I've had a bit of training but my department does not have a large training budget. It terms of development my team and manager have done a great job in developing my skills. However other industrial placements students at GSK have had large amount of formal training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
It would be great to get a job with GSK but there graduate scheme is very hard to get onto and is a long process.
The Culture
Lots of social events were arranged amongst placements students
Living and socialising in London is very expensive especially when you're use to University prices.
Nightlife in London is great if you don't mind spending a fair bit of money. Just make sure to work out where your night bus is or be prepared to wait for the first tube in the morning
GSK own a sports field where you can book for at no costs. Its a great place to meet up with friends and play some sport.
