Overview
I pull weekly reports so that I can follow up on outstanding orders and communicate the status of orders back to my end users. I also monitor the invoices discrepancies and work with suppliers and accounts to get these solved so the supplier can be paid on time. I also place around 6 orders per day, which involve sourcing and getting quotes.
Skills
I had the opportunity to present to 3 lab groups across the UK sites which improved my presentation skills before my student showcase which was shown to the UK. I have also developed my attention to detail as I realised how important this was in this role and have became adaptive as I have worked through system changes.
Responsibilities
I was given full responsibility to complete my role this year, with the support if I needed it. I had my own emails, enquiries, projects and job role to complete which was really refreshing as I wasn't an admin for someone. I learnt so much from this.
Support & Guidance
I had 2 visits from my University during the year and monthly lectures to help with the assignments I needed to complete. My manager was really supportive and helped me achieve the goals I had set in my first month at Lubrizol. I felt comfortable with the whole team and I developed my skills and knowledge because by learning from them. I also had weekly 1:1's with my manager.
Culture
I would love to return to Lubrizol to work here after University as the atmosphere was really comfortable. I have met so many friendly people and the culture means that Lubrizol celebrate individuals and topics that are usually avoided. Raising awareness for these really shows in how friendly and open all colleagues I met are.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement thoroughly. I have learnt a lot about myself and how I work, and have decided I would like to continue my career in procurement. Lubrizol is an amazing company to work for and has helped to improve my commercial knowledge about the industry.
