    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As it is constantly changing every day I’m interesting. You will help out in all fields mentioned and be given responsibility in each sector after a few weeks of experience. You learn so much and even get head office experience which was my highlight of the placement.

  • Communication is massive in the role and you will definitely improve this tremendously. My leadership skills have also improved due to the responsibility. I have also learned so much about business and how international businesses run.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • After some work within a sector, you will be given responsibility where you will take responsibility for teams within the warehouse or offices. Also, you will be given projects to develop the business where you are responsible for the creation of the reports and have a major impact on how the business moves forward.

  • At any point I needed help there was always someone to come and assist me. Everyone is very nice and willing to guide you to success.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Each sector of the business has different cultures and you will see it but it will also help your understanding. Everyone has a nature to help you out in any sector and it’s a positive atmosphere throughout.

  • I met some great people and was taught in many areas. As this was my intention I had a great time and I really have valued my experience with Lidl.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Lidl
  • Be averse to change as it’s always busy. You will be on your feet a lot and the first few weeks can be a shock. But after you have had some experience and found your footing, the experience is extremely valuable and I’m very grateful.
