The Role
I loved it :) I have been given so many amazing opportunities during the year and feel like I have gained an invaluable exerience, whilst meeting lots of great people aloung the way!
All employess at Microsoft, including my manager and senior members of staff, made me feel completly welcome from the word go. They encouraged me from the beginning to organise 1-2-1s with people in different areas of the business and ask as many questions as I could. Throughout the year, I have received lots of feedback from my collegues which has highlighted to me how much I have been valued.
I have regular 1-2-1 meetings with my manager to talk through what I am currently working on and identify any areas where I have needed support. I have received information through from intern management team concerning commitments, developments and career opportunities.
My job is very variable; one week I will be comletly crammed and the next I may have very little on. This is an element of my job which I actually really enjoy.
I have been given a lot more responsibility then I originally expected. The amount of work/responsibility I have been given has progressed through the year. I am currently working as project support on a strategy project which has involved taking ownership of several elements of this project.
I have learnt more this year than I have in the past two years at university. I have developed my soft skill set (particularly communication and relationship management) and learnt invaluable knowledge about how a multicorporate business operates.
The Company
Really laid back - again I am able to talk to who I want, I sit opposite my manager and next to one of the other interns, but everyone talks to everyone. It is the opposite of how i expected a corporate environment to be. I enjoy the flexibility and openess of the work environment here.
The initial assessment centre etc. was quite badly organised and my manager wasn't around in my first week. However, after this, it has been pretty seamless. We've had some great activities organised for the intern group from go-kart racing at our induction day to Brazillian carnival music playing on our last day last week.
Completed several MOS exams throughout the year and hope to qualify as a 'Microsodt Office Expert' before the end of my placement. My manager has been open to giving me time of work to attend training events and conferences related to marketing.

There's the graduate (MACH) scheme available where current interns are able to fast track. There is also the opportunity to use the contacts we've made this year and apply for a full time employee role within the business (depending on if we've made a good enough impression!)
The Culture
We had a group of 25 interns which was the perfect number - we are now a really close group of friends and hope to stay in touch next year. Our team is very sociable as well - we often have team meals, the odd tri to the pub and Christmas parties etc.
We're in London - so it's pretty expensive considering the wage we are on! Worth every penny though.
Again, we're in London, so although it's really exensive, there's so many different 'scenes' from Shoreditch to Chelsea. We've tried to do a bit of everything this year and make the most of being in the capital city - it's been pretty amazing!
There's been numerous opportunities offered - Microsoft has several different sport clubs and societies and also encourage emloyees to volunteer throughout the year
