Overview
My role includes attending to daily meetings with my team every day to catch up on what stage we are on with the project. Other than this, depending on different days, I would be completing audit tasks such as doing FSQC checks, recording director minutes and summarising an accounting paper. Along with this I would complete any training that needs to be completed on my behalf such as risk compliance. PwC also have a lot of volunteering activities in which days I would attend them as well.
Skills
I definitely did improved a lot of skills, both in IT and transferable skills. Being an audit intern, I picked up a lot of new skills on how Auro Platinum works which is what I used a lot in day to day basis. I also improved my Excel skills significantly as most of my responsibilities will include completing tasks on Excel. Along with this I improved my communication skills, both written and verbal, time management skills and most importantly my confidence.
Responsibilities
This would depend from day to day but most of the days I did given decent amount of responsibility. I would first have training from my manager or a senior associate such as what steps I need to follow to correctly complete the task, and then I would perform it in my own time. Some work that I have been given would take 30 to 1 hour, and some tasks will take more than a day.
Support & Guidance
My main point of contact were my buddy and my career coach and any general questions that I might have relating to the internship as a whole, I could have easily access them without any challenges. They would always be willing to help me with any of my challenges or questions that I might have. Along with this, any questions or support that I might need help with while completing a task, I always offered help from my manager or someone from my team.
Culture
The culture in PwC was amazing, I loved everyone that I worked with. They were all lovely people and always ready to support me even though I was an intern. They made me feel part of the team from day 1, and everyone was so inclusive and friendly. They made my experience a lot easier. The fact that PwC has a lot of people diversity network that you can attend which shows how much they care about diversity and inclusion.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my internship with PwC and would recommend it to anybody who is interested in audit and consulting. The culture and atmosphere is amazing and PwC cares a lot about diversity and inclusion. The training I got was very informative and I know a lot about audit and its day to day responsibilities and tasks. I feel very lucky to be part of this community and the skills I learned is so valuable.
Yes
I would advise them to be open minded and curios in their internship to make the most of it. Everyone should be proactive and seeking new opportunities and tasks to get involved and learn more about their role as much as they can. PwC also has a lot of social events and volunteering opportunities which everyone can attend. By joining these events, you can feel more involved and meet new people, expanding your network.
