Overview
Talking to recently hired graduates and my line manager in order to find out about a task they're currently engaged in so I can learn what it is they're doing and how to do it myself.
Skills
Yes, I've learnt a lot about the calculations that have to be done with every new build. At first it may not seem like too much but now I find myself referring to things I've learnt during my internship. Also have become familiar with bluebeam, an application I had no prior knowledge of.
Responsibilities
I would say I have been given quite a bit of responsibility but at the same time I'm given a lot of freedom with which I can do my tasks.
Support & Guidance
As much as I need. A simple teams message or if I'm in the office, a short walk away from my mentors and all my problems are solved.
Culture
I would say it is quite a pleasant place with quite a few employees making the effort to speak and get to know me.
Your Impressions
It has been more valuable than I would've thought it would be when I applied to be honest.
Yes
Apply, get some experience in a sector you might not be familiar with. This being my first internship has now inspired me to apply for more internships.
