    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I'm an intern on an audit team. So I have been working alongside a year 2 associate, working on different Evidence Gathering Activities and taking part in team meetings and communicating with the client when needed. I've learned PwC's systems that they use and spent a few days at the start of the internship doing audit training.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have definitely learned new skills, I only knew the theory behind auditing a company before this and now I have actual experience in it. My excel skills have been tested, I've had to communicate professionally with external companies and quickly learn how to complete new tasks given to me.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given a lot of responsibility, have to complete my own tasks and take accountability for my own work. I also had to complete a group exercise consulting for an assigned company and we were given some guidance but mainly had to complete this on our own.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 4/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There is a lot of support and guidance. I had a career coach and buddy who I could go to for advice. The audit team manager provided me and the other intern on the client a lot of support and trained us on how to complete different EGAs. The senior associate on the client sat at the same table so she could help us with the little questions or areas we got stuck on.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone was really friendly and willing to help or answer questions. It was still a very professional environment and everyone got on with their work but it was nice at lunch to be able to sit and chat with other people. Everyone I talked to couldn't say enough positive things about the culture and the people. I even got to see things like the perk of summer working hours.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed it. The work was definitely difficult and tiring but the atmosphere and the people were amazing. I also learned so much and got a real insight into the world of audit, so I know what I'm in for when I leave university.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Be yourself in the interview and don't worry about what you studied at university, it just matters that you show interest in that area. Make sure to do lots of research on PwC and their culture so you can show that you really want the job/internship. Also do research on the job you are applying for.
