    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • A regular day on client work generally involves working with a small sub-team of 5 or so people and sometimes a wider team of 20+ members with around a 50/50 split of in person and at home working. The work can be anything from testing samples, writing memos, receiving confirmations and many other areas. The specific day to day items depend on which client and which sub-team someone is on.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I found that my excel skills have developed hugely due to the dependency of being competent using it. My communication skills have also improved massively with my own team and other teams from everywhere across the globe. With regards to audit specifically, the culture at PwC has meant I've been encouraged to be professionally sceptical where possible and therefore my core audit skills have developed also.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I think I was fortunate in the team I had and trust put in me which meant that when I joined my first long term client team, within just a month I was leading areas myself which included completing core documentation, leading catch up calls with the client and sending requests to the client.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The culture at PwC means that everyone at all grades are open to and encouraged to coach wherever they can, and because of this there was a high level of guidance offered. In addition to coaching, everyone I worked with was friendly and welcoming so whether in the office or over google chat/ video calls I was able to receive support from my team at any time in the day.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Due to the amount of Graduate/ business placement joiners at the same time and the time given to allow us to meet each other, there was a great social side to my intake. This was similar to my client team where we would often have socials/ meals together. During the work day the culture is super friendly, flexible and inclusive. Personally, I couldn't have asked for anything more with regards to this at PwC.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Make sure that you focus on PwC's key goals and behaviours throughout your time. Don't be afraid to ask questions and especially make sure you put yourself out there as much as possible. Try and also get some variety within your work by speaking to your team and managers, be open about if there is something you want/don't want to be doing.
