The Role
Microsoft is an amazing company to work for and I had a great time. Working at a company like Microsoft gave me experiences that I wouldn't be able to have in another company,
My team were very friendly and helpful. They really made my internship a great experience.
My manager was very nice but was very busy, this meant that I sometimes didn't get as much time with him as I liked.
My workload was varied as I didn't really have a large project but just had work to do when it came in. Some weeks I was very busy and others I was not so much but being at a company like Microsoft you can branch out into other non-role related projects.
I was given a lot of responibility during my year at the company. I even got the oppertunity to represent Microsoft when I worked with Ericsson in Spain for 2 weeks on my own.
I believe the skills I have learnt throughout my internship will help me greatly when I return to university and afterwards. The experience of working for such a large multinational company on multimillion dollar projects was eye-opening and it is defiantly something I will take forward into my working life.
The Company
The atmosphere in my team and within the intern comunity was brilliant!
The placement was organised very well from start to finish, Microsoft has a great University staffing team that were always around to help if you needed any help or had queries.
the first 6 months or so of my placement I recieved training. Every placement student can also take the Microsoft exmas for free.

The graduate (MACH) scheme is quite difficult to get on to but as an ex-intern you bypass some of the initial stages of the application process.
The Culture
Yes, the interns go out as a group almost every weekend. The intern comunity is strong.
The cost of living is above average with Mirosoft being based in Reading and London.
The student union is a good night out, any student with an NUS extra card can get into the SU.
There are lots of opportunities if you want them!
