Overview
Completing project design work, participating in meetings and design collaboration sessions, communicating with both UX and development teams, iterating designs, seeking out feedback
Skills
I have learnt Figma and Sketch - two of the leading industry tools for web/ app design. I have learnt project management tools too such as Jira, Confluence and sprint cadences - how a project is structured and run effectively. I have also utilised Adobe Creative Cloud while being here, such as InDesign, Illustrator and Adobe Fresco.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility; I presented to clients un-supervised, visited client-site in Leeds multiple times, took on voluntary roles such as design lead for national apprenticeship week, and produced vital design outputs for multiple projects
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of help when I needed it. This included support from the foundation team, as well as excellent support from my task manager, who made sure to provide opportunities throughout the year to check in and provide feedback/ answer questions. Everyone here is more than happy to give you there time to help you out.
Culture
The community here is truly lovely, everyone is kind and extremely talented, and it is all in all a great place to work, and an even better place to be on placement! I felt supported, confident and able to perform my role throughout my year here
Your Impressions
I have loved my internship, I have made great friends and been able to experience things I otherwise never would have! I can't wait to bring what I have learnt back into uni and my career going forwards
Yes
Demonstrate how you offer the skillset they are after - things like being willing to learn and having a genuine passion and interest go a long way. Be open to criticism - it helps you to learn!
