    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I am an audit intern. On a day to day, i shadow associates, listen in on meetings, and help with completing evidence gathering forms for our clients. After taking meeting notes, I am able to talk to my career coaches, go through the notes, and understand the client as well as the terminology used.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my use of Excel, seeing actual numbers and information and being able to compare them in Tests of Details, as an audit process. Also, I have learnt more teamworking skills, as comparing notes with my team about the client has been crucial in our documentation process.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. It was important to manage your own time completely on your own, and be responsible for attending meetings, getting to client sites etc. The managers did not hover over us, making us feel as if we were actually working rather than someone telling you what to do at all times.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • We received a lot of support from various people such as buddys, career coaches, student recruitment etc. They were on hand to answer any questions we may have, as well as guide us with informing us of their own career journeys. We were able to speak to anyone in the office even from different LoS.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was great. The atmosphere, on my floor 3 at least, was cool, calm and collected. People were often friendly, while getting on with their work. People were responsible, they answered questions and were on hand to help and guide with anything you had.
