    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was integrated onto the team immediately, and was made to feel i had been there for a long time. I was invited to daily meetings, encouraged to listen and take it in at the start, then get involved once I felt more confident. I was encouraged to get out of my comfort zone, whilst being allowed to take it at my own pace. I was brought onto reports to aid their completion, as well as being given autonomy and allowed to be creative with experimenting with slide decks while retaining PwC branding.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My existing skill set was definitely enhanced from this experience, including Leadership and independence, punctuality and self management. I was responsible for managing my own time and gauging my levels of capacity, determining if I was able to take on more work, or work through what I already had. I also learned a host of new skills including the ability and experience to Present to an audience. My inquisitive nature was encouraged, and I was made comfortable to ask as many questions as I required

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • I was encouraged to ask as many questions as I needed, to ensure I got the most out of my experience. I was encouraged to shadow all Lines of Service and teams within the firm, which allowed me to widen my horizons and be open to other jobs within the firm. This also allowed me to have a better understanding of how the Lines of service interact, and understand how everyone's jobs come together to complete the firm's purpose.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It was very positive and welcoming from day one! I was made to feel at ease immediately, and became involved in the culture of PwC. This culture has many benefits, allowing for a positive, relaxed and happy work place. I felt all people were approachable. There was an inclusive atmosphere with many Networks for different interests, religions, sexual orientation etc, Which created a sense of community, with interns encouraged to join despite only being there for a short period of time.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had the best time! I am not ready to leave! I feel the 4 weeks have been too short, and I would have loved to stay for longer, considering training etc took up majority of the first week, it would have been great to get staying on a bit longer. I've had an amazing time, and have enjoyed every minute of the experience! Has definitely encouraged me to consider working here in the future

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Take your time to research before you apply, as a fair level of background knowledge on the firm is required in order to succeed in the video interview and assessment centre elements. I would advise you to have an open mind, as you never know what each day will bring or where you will end up within the firm, but be assured that it is a place that you will want to work in, and you will do well if you are friendly and open minded
