  • Shadowing more senior staff, and assisting them with their work

  • I have developed a wider understanding of audit in general, however i would not say that i have developed any new skills due to the low level of difficulty of the work. I have developed a greater understanding of some of the audit platforms such as wizard.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • No. Although i was given tasks to do they were very basic, mainly admin tasks and all audit tasks consisted of just checking numbers, dates, punctuation and copying in more data. The most responsibility was given for the social enterprise challenge. I understand maybe i do not have enough knowledge to assist with more important tasks yet, however i would of liked to be pushed more.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Minimal. I was given few tasks, my mentors were good at explaining any task given to me, however, i did not receive any real guidance and was often left having to constantly ask for more work. Apart from one of the placement students being extremely supportive.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Not very friendly, the office tended to be fairly empty. Almost no staff even said hello to any of the interns unless we were directly working with them.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed being in a corporate environment and when i reached out to senior staff and partners i found their guidance extremely valuable, however i would of liked more work and to be challenged more.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • To reach out to as many partners and senior staff as possible if they get the internship. Practice interview prep, and psychometric tests.
