    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an intern you are expected to shadow associates and do any work they provide you with. After the first week which is mostly training about the basics of audit and PwC plus a bit of networking. You will spend three weeks shadowing a senior associate. The senior associate will set you work to do such as basic EGA's sitting in on team/client meetings, taking notes. You shadow three associates spending one week with each of them.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Since most of the work that gets done is quite basic the main skills you will learn/develop will be soft skills. There is a strong emphasis on "networking" so it's a good opportunity to develop small talk/social skills. You will also learn how to use the PwC specific software which pretty much everyone is happy to help you with as they all know it can be confusing when you just start out

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • You are given a surprising amount of responsibility on the internship. Instantly being put to work on real projects and submitting work. These tasks wont be to complex but they are real audit work. You may also get the opportunity to speak with clients and ask questions about missing materials or similar problems. you will definitely get the opportunity to sit in on client meetings which is very insightful. You are essentially treated as a new hire so are given a large amount of responsibility.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • You are assigned a buddy and a career coach. You're career coach is someone you can ask questions to if you are unable to get any work or have any serious questions. They will also request you to get feedback from the people you work with which can be used as helpful guidance. The buddy is a more informal contact who you can ask any questions that you may have not matter how big or small such as how to submit your timesheet

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Because PwC has such a young workforce there is a very relaxed atmosphere in the office. Everyone is willing to answer any questions you have and it's pretty chill like like no one takes it to seriously. The CoE is all quite close as they are an officed based team so you see the same people everyday and can build strong relationships. Also the CoE have their own induction where they gave us cake which was a bonus

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I found the internship really enjoyable. The associates you shadow clearly try to give you the best experience possible setting tasks that are engaging but also not to difficult. The cohort of interns all got on well as well making more fun when you had a bit of down time you also had someone to chat with. I also really enjoyed being able to do some actual work especially one task where I had an interaction with a client.

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • I would definitely recommend applying. The hard part is getting in so really study up and try to be yourself in interviews and the assessment centre. you will definitely be told this if you get the internship but always ask questions especially if you are stuck don't just sit about as this will just be frustrating for the person you are shadowing. And make sure you ask for feedback early as people are busy
