    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Delivering engineering solutions to new engineering problems. Designing parts in CAD, responsible for drawings, communicating design with the rest of the business (programme management, supply chain, STA, quality, manufacturing, top level engineering)

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Absolutely. I gained massive amount of technical knowledge in very short time, as well as rapidly developed my soft skills and myself as person and professional. I developed high stress tolerance, took responsibility of very important and critical projects.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Extremely yes. As product engineer you often get new challenges that you never thought you could tackle, but end up resolving them. It is very "sink or swim " environment, there is a lot of pressure, and it truly forges you into strong individual and world class engineer.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • If you ask for it, you get it. If you close in yourself, you'll struggle. If you put pressure on yourself thinking you must deliver and know everything on top of your head, you're making your life much more difficult. In fact you are expected to ask "stupid questions", seek assistance and talk to as many people as possible. They want to see you develop and learn, not neccessarily to be brilliant and know everything

  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Stressful, but supportive. No blame policy, high paced, brilliant team and managers really lead by example and serve as role models.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • In the beginning it was very overwhelming and hard, but now after 12 months, I couldn't like it more. It is harsh and high paced environment, but it develops you in amazing individuall.

  • 7. Would you recommend Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains Ltd
  • 3 things I remember my team leaders saying: 1. When things go wrong, when you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, and just feel overwhelmed by situation: "Okay, and what do we do now?" 2. "Never spend more than 10 minutes on a problem. If it takes you more than 10 min, there is always someone in the building who can solve it in a blink of an eye and teach you" 3. "I can teach you maths, physics, mechanics, but I can't teach you work ethics, passion, attitude, and mindset"
