    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My main responsibilities were to co-ordinate the entirety of the hiring process of Interns in the UK and Ireland. This included attracting talent by building relationships with universities from across the target regions, reviewing CVs and Video Interviews, hosting Assessment Centers and finally hiring candidates. I was also solely responsible for arranging sessions to aid personal and professional development for Travelport’s global internship scheme.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • As an intern at Travelport you are treated like a regular, full time employee. The teams here invest a lot of time in you as a professional in order to help you grow into an employee they may want to hire after graduating. This means that each intern is given a lot of responsibility day-to-day, with the support of your team you have the opportunity to complete projects independently as well as in a group.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The internship program is well established and there is a team to support the interns if ever needed. The intern panel were available to guide us on role related issues or problems we're facing during CSR initiatives. Whilst I didn't require much of the panel's support and completed most projects independently, it was nice to know that they were there as a point of contact.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Travelport has an excellent company culture which has made a huge impact on what I will look for when searching for roles in the future. The offices have a very relaxed environment, in Langley there's a games room called 'The Lounge'! Everyone is really friendly and embracive of the internship program making it really easy to adjust to a professional office environment for the first time.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Travelport and wouldn't have wanted to complete my placement anywhere else. I gained invaluable experience in my field but also had the opportunity to work with other interns on projects throughout the year which was a real highlight for me. As interns we were able to dedicate a lot of our time to CSR which was really rewarding and gave me the chance to network with other employees.

  • 7. Would you recommend Travelport to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Travelport
  • You will need to complete a video interview and a Showcase Day. Make sure to be yourself and don't be afraid to speak up and take the lead during the Showcase Day. At Travelport they're looking to hire for potential rather than experience. The most successful candidate will be someone with a lot of passion for the role and who's values align with Travelport's.
