The Role
I learnt a lot throughout the year and understand more about my industry and the world of work
I was not treated as a student but as an employee and given responsibility from the start. Colleagues were always available to ask questions even after 11 months of work, you can still ask them questions.
I had two supervisors for 6 months each. It was not the easiest as I got on well with my first manager, but took awhile to adjust to the latter. Both have given me support, however no two persons are the same, nevertheless other colleagues are also available if you need further guidance.
I always had tasks to do. Since I belonged to a wide team, each person had different sub-specialties that I was able to get involved in and get experience in.
Quite a bit. Of course to an extent that I could handle with required guidance from supervisors senior.
I believe it has prepared me for the better, in terms of completing my final year and degree and and entering the world of work.
The Company
Most days it is pleasant to come to work, and since we have a hot-desking system you are not in a set place and allows better interaction with colleagues.
It was well organized as the department were used to have students before. They did make sure we got to do as many different things and gain a wider experience and knowledge as possible
There was a limit, but I was allowed to go on company paid conferences within UK, visit different sites and exhibition on account of the company.

Working from home
It is possible, not in my current supervisor's and team I belong to, but within the department. Purely on qualification basis. To return to a similar job on research I would require a PhD but with a degree I could get into product development or regulatory.
The Culture
There were 8 of us within our department, some from the same university, so we knew each other prior to placement, but we got on very well, and did something monthly be it a dinner, theatre outing, drinks, etc
It was not cheap at all, living in London and then going to the pub for drinks and meal was quite a lot. So I would save up for such events. However, company dinners were paid for and that was a bonus.
Not really my thing, but being in London I am sure it is quite good. There is a lot of other opportunities though.
Yes, always something to get involved. I volunteered with a brownies unit, visited museums, historic places, theatre, parks, etc
