Overview
Every day is very different depending on which staff have capacity but it's often joining projects which are happening within the office, on tasks such as data review and checking numbers, drafting basic documents and writing internal memos.
Skills
Not coming from a tax background, working within tax has provided me with additional technical experience within tax, gaining familiarity with the documents and learning how to complete tasks at a greater rate.
Responsibilities
Moderate responsibility was given to me, namely the drafting of documents but most of it was conducted with oversight at the end of the day etc to ensure that I was along the right lines.
Support & Guidance
The staff and especially the dedicated "buddy" always made themselves available for questions and supported both the work and attaining the work. I could not flaw them on this, it was a very supportive atmosphere.
Culture
As I was working in the regions, I'm unsure if this would hold up within London, the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly whilst remaining high performance. Despite only being in the office for 3 weeks, you get a sense of getting to know people on a personal level which is very nice.
Your Impressions
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience, the last week was more challenging due to work starting to dry up but other than that, I was constantly busy whilst not being overwhelmed and managed to strike a strong balance.
Yes
Focus on portraying the authentic you, whilst it's a large company, firms like PwC are changing and the human element is becoming much more important both internally and in relations with clients, so be genuine, be friendly and don't be afraid to ask if you don't understand.
