The Role
I was given a lot of responsibility straight away in a challenging and varied role. I was shocked by how much I'd learnt in a month, and looking back on a whole year, I'm transformed!
Microsoft is a really friendly, respectful environment. My colleauge have given me a lot of responsibility and sought my opinion regularly.
I've had a fantastic manager, who has pushed, encouraged and helped me reflect in equal mesaure. On top of this, several managers and graduates have been fantastic mentors. The support for your personal development is secodn to none.
I've been extremely busy, but I like ti that way. I've made sure to take on lots of extra responsibilty, so I often stay later than working hours. A placement that allows you to take as much as you want from your year is veyr positive.
My day job has been demanding in its self, and its results are highly visible around the business. I was surprised I was trusted to such a big commitment so independently.
Real life experience applicable in so many ways.
The Company
I have a fun and chatty team. The people are friendly. Having a lot fo intern company is great too.
The induction week and activities before ti were really good. I was able to jump straight into work.
My manager and other mentors have been keen to see me succeeding, and have spent time with me weekly.

The graduate scheme (MACH Scheme) looks incredible. I'm in the process of applying now!
The Culture
I got to know a lot of other interns throughout the year. I only wish there were more planned events for the whole community as a collective, rather than just induction and leaving evnet.
Reading isn't cheap I'm afraid. But on our salary there's enough to get by and have fun.
Reading is lacking a killer venue or two. The bar/clubs are good, and not an issue at the start, but the party scene has nothing on most other major cities.
Football, extra projects, citizenship work.
