Overview
I monitor the service desk through answering support calls from any of the 56k NHS staff who are (non) professional users of ESR. I action the Service Requests in the ticket queue from the forementioned callers or individual user action.
Skills
I have become more comfortable with data, systems and technology. I've learnt about databases and how they interact with each other. As well as about the ESR structure in the NHS and how to address customers professionally through written and verbal communication. This has involved experience in conflict resolution also.
Responsibilities
Yes, there were times where the whole team was occupied and I would be the one left to represent IBM well to the NHS and handle all customer queries and issues.
Support & Guidance
The first month of my placement was full of training through experience with members of the team shadowing me as I worked. Afterwards throughout the rest of the year I was able to ask questions, recieve ad hoc training within and outside of my job role also.
Culture
Relaxed, friendly, busy, fast paced, full of cake, biscuits and coffee
Your Impressions

Yes
Reach out to current employees for advice and help every time. Everyone is really friendly.
