Overview
My role at PwC was in the DC pensions department. On a day to day basis I would attend calls from different clients ranging from triennial reviews to governance meetings. I would also be tasked with compiling data and preparing that for clients. I would also attend in house calls with members of the team to review and discuss client and team expectations.
Skills
Throughout my internship, I have learnt a lot of skills. The majority of them being soft skills. For example how to engage with people within the workspace and how to work within a busy business climate. Hard skills included working with large data sets and processing data within excel and other softwares.
Responsibilities
Throughout my internship, I was given large amounts of responsibility working on different client projects. During my last two weeks, I was given numerous tasks I was left to complete and review. My responsibility grew throughout my internship, which increased the number of independent work I was conducting.
Support & Guidance
During my four weeks here, I was given significant support and guidance from all levels of seniority. The team made it easy to contact different members with any questions or queries I had. Every team member was open to helping me with any problems I encountered no matter how small.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere was welcoming. The atmosphere in the office was relaxed which made it easy for me to meet people and come to people at any point of time with questions, enhancing my experience.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed myself throughout my internship. This was in part to the many social events the team put on for the interns. Events ranged from team dinners and lunches to five a - side football.
Yes
Advice I would give to other applying for PwC would be to apply early and to very well informed about the company and the role you are applying for. Showing intent and background knowledge shows a willingness to be apart of the company.
