Overview
Working alongside a team of varied experience and stature within the company I was given an opportunity to complete various Evidence Gathering Activities as part of a large audit. I was able to work with all members of the team and experience what life is like as an auditor.
Skills
Developed Excel/ technological skills significantly, developed interpersonal skills such as presenting and talking to senior management. Learned how to perform certain audit-specific skills and have developed my problem solving and ability to learn quickly.
Responsibilities
Lots, as this was only a 4-week internship I was thrown straight into performing work at a 2nd year level. This was supported by a fantastic and encouraging team but also challenged me to figure things out on the job.
Support & Guidance
I had a buddy who was on my team and was able to help with all small issues and getting settled in, my career coach was one of the managers on my team and we held regular meetings to discuss progress. Also, every team member (including managers) was more than happy to help whenever I had any issue so I felt extremely supported.
Culture
The culture was firstly hard-working but also extremely supportive and relaxed. This made it very easy to settle in to the role and encouraged me to perform at my best and integrate with the team.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to see if a career in audit is right for you.
Yes
Be yourself, show that you are a pleasant individual to be around and a hard-worker, PwC is made up of lots of like-minded individuals in that everyone is open, friendly and happy to work hard for each other. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions and make mistakes as the culture is so supportive.
