The Role
Had such a great time! Not only did I get to work in London, but I also got to work for one of the best tech companies out there. The experience I've gained this year has been invaluable, and I had fun doing it!
Never did I feel like I was being treated as an intern. Never did I do any menial tasks! In fact, they very much treat you as the 'future of Microsoft' and hugely respect any insights you have.
My manager was awesome, and an absolute league above the previous internship I had. He was incredibly honest about everything, and really helped to make me develop as an employee, and as a person. I expect I'll actually stay in contact with him after I leave!
This depends on how much you sign yourself up for. Additionally, work load can really vary depending on the time of the week. A lot of PM work at Microsoft is also meant to be self-motivated, so if you don't have anything to do, you should still be able to find additional analysis or tasks that you can get started on.
I chose this stuff with my manager, based on my strengths and what I enjoyed doing. You may actually be surprised at how fast you get dunked in the deep end when you join, but that's all part of the learning experience!
Definitely skills for life. I've learnt a lot about myself too. Can't wait to absolutely own projects when I get back to University!
The Company
Our office was one of the quieter Microsoft ones, but that's not a problem. Actually helps you get stuff done! This was safely offset with a games room and beer fridge though, love it! Other than that, everyone was super friendly and never minded if you disturbed them to ask a question.
Very well organised. From the application to Microsoft to the leaving party, everything seemed to run without a hitch.
When I joined the team I was taken off to a bootcamp in our Poland office. Safe to say, we had an awesome time. The clubs are pretty good there :).

Very, very high. I have the choice of getting fast tracked onto the MACH scheme or applying directly to my team. I expect I'll do the latter, as I've gained a huge amount of skill that specifically applies to this area, and a huge amount of contacts. I'd be silly not to use them!
The Culture
Yes! We constantly organised nights out and things like that. The intern community is pretty massive actually (100+), so there'll always be someone who wants to party with you!
Obviously living in London is expensive, but that's to be expected. That didn't stop me though. I treated my year at Microsoft as an experience in London as much as anything, so I was fine with spending some money to do just that.
It's London, so it's pretty much the best you can get :). Had literally such an amazing time partying here, and met a huge amount of other Londoners too.
London has a tonne of stuff :). Lots of free stuff like museums too!
