Overview
The role is very varied, with the opportunity to work on a breadth of different projects according to the therapy area's needs. Day-to-day involves liaising with the team and other departments, attending meetings and training sessions, and independent focus time to work on your projects and stay abreast of relevant published literature
Skills
I have gained extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the ABPI Code of Practice which governs all pharmaceutical activity in the UK. I have developed my interpersonal and teamwork skills, working within a cross-functional team and interacting with both internal and external stakeholders regularly.
Responsibilities
Way more responsibility than I expected! You really are a trusted and valued member of the team, not "just an intern". You are responsible for managing your own projects, and are encouraged to bring new ideas to the table.
Support & Guidance
Lots, both within my immediate team and as part of the early careers programme at Pfizer. There is a plethora of resources available with support, guidance and training.
Culture
The company culture is very inclusive, with a particular emphasis on wellbeing. You are always encouraged to put your wellness first which is really great. I don't think I have met anybody within the company who is not friendly and approachable.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, not only did it contribute greatly to my personal and professional development, but I also had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people.
Yes
Make sure you have researched the role and the company thoroughly, and see how it aligns with your future career plans and prospects. Even the same job role varies across the different business units and departments, so research all of the business units and see which you think would be the best fit for you.
