    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • I would go into the office or either work from home. I worked closely with my performance manager and buddy. They would assign me with different tasks each day and I would work on a range of engagements. I mainly used excel to complete tasks and had meetings on Microsoft teams. I would attend internal training meetings and weekly department catch-up calls. If I had any queries I would email the client, There would be other colleagues in the office, who would support me and answer questions.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I developed my excel skills and learnt technical knowledge about audit. I had the opportunity to learn about different sectors and businesses. Time management, analytical and collaboration skills were developed by completing audit work. Speaking to and emailing other colleagues and clients has improved my communication skills. Writing reports and summarising key information has improved my written communication skills. Participating in a ESG project alongside other interns, developed my team work and critical thinking skills.

  • It was very interesting to learn about all the possible career routes and different sectors in KPMG. During the induction and final reconnect event, we were able to hear from employees in different sectors. At lunch, I was able to talk to graduates and apprentices and hear about their roles and teams they had worked in. Throughout the internship, I met a wide range of employees in different roles(like manager, directors and partners) and hear about their experiences.
