Overview
Report writing. Cross-referencing accounts. Learning and development tasks, specifically geared towards Deals-specific softwares, such as Alteryx, Power BI, Excel and PwC Junction. Drafting up information memorandums. Intern Challenge, which comprised of producing real client deliverables as a teams of interns. Attending internal and client meetings alike, and attended plenty of networking events.
Skills
I have developed my software skills, specifically financial and data modelling, specifically with the use of Alteryx, Power BI, Excel, and PwC Junction. Learnt how to quickly analyse audited financial statements and produce information memorandums for senior management.
Responsibilities
Given the short timeframe of the internship (4 weeks), there was not quite enough time to introduce interns within the Deals LoS to work of independent responsibility. Often acted as an auxiliary support to Senior Associates and Managers during the completion of their client work.
Support & Guidance
I received plenty of support with regards to work shadowing, networking, and learning and development tasks. I was assigned a Career Coach (CC) and a buddy, however I was also mentored by several other PwC employees on an informal basis, helping me develop my understanding of the business and the work I was doing.
Culture
A very welcoming company culture, and a sociable atmosphere in the office. Also a meritocratic culture, where hard and high quality work is encouraged and duly rewarded. Regardless of grade (intern to partner, etc.), all staff were approachable, and happy to answer any questions.
Your Impressions
My internship was an incredibly rewarding experience. Learnt a lot in a short space of time, through networking, L&D tasks, work shadowing and intern work. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is considering submitting an application. Preferably would have been 6 weeks long or so, as opposed to 4.
Yes
Make sure you research the company and the line of service you want to be in. You need to be enthusiastic about the work that you do, and that enthusiasm will show during your assessment centre and during the day to day work that you complete for the length of the internship.
