    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day to day basis I was involved in a variety of tasks. These included: Sitting on internal team meetings as well as external client meetings, preparing presentables for clients, performing internal business development research and preparing a presentation for the intern purpose challenge. I worked directly in the office sitting in the middle of the team

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i have learn and developed on many skills. We had a course on active listening and how to best communicate in the work place. I have also learn new skills on how to use many specialised pieces of software/programs that are used by the pensions team every day. I also worked on my presentation skills

  • It was very interesting learning about all that was available. It has helped me greatly narrow down my career choices, realising quickly that some areas are certainly not for me but that instead i really like actuarial science

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere and culture are superb, possibly the best I have ever experienced in a workplace. Flexible work hours, dress for your day (not necessary to wear formal business attire), working from home where needed, long lunch break and regular team mini coffee breaks. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, I never felt like an annoyance, but instead like I was part of the team

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I have really enjoyed the insight. I would say the very early stages with the compulsory training were a little arduous at times but certainly necessary and once I had got through these, the entire time was very enjoyable. I always look forward to going to work

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Be genuine. PwC is a people's organisation. They want to hire you, not the person you think they want. If you are genuine and are yourself they will see that and want to talk to you. Also make sure you work hard at university and show them that you can perform when it comes to crunch time
