    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Was assigned with a supervisor and a trainee buddy for each seat, for a total of two seats. The first seat lasted for two weeks and the second seat for one week. There were talks/social events throughout the scheme, and for each seat you will be given various tasks depending on what your supervisor gives you.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, it was my first scheme at an international firm which gave me adequate exposure to a wide variety of tasks. This includes research tasks (either for the use of my supervisor or as a client advice note) or legal drafting tasks. All of which build on my attention to detail, real-world research skills, and commercial awareness.

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Completely non-hierarchical. Everyone at the firm was genuinely friendly and collaborative. Initiatives and networks are in place to support people from different backgrounds or with different needs.

  • Attend as many events as possible as early as possible to understand the firm on a deeper level. Reach out and network with people at the firm to get insight into what the firm is actually like rather than only relying on websites.
