Overview
Market role: data reports on power bi and excel, communicating with different people, refreshing existing dashboards Consumer role: manual data entry, manual contract approval, occasional data requests
Skills
Did not know what Power BI was before this internship, and towards the end i was the 'power bi expert'. during the first half of the internship, i had plenty of time and opportunities to develop my skills and work on myself, but sadly they changed my role mid-way through and i barely had any time/opportunity to improve anything afterwards
Responsibilities
i was given a lot of responsibility with the data reports, hundreds of people were creating strategies based on the numbers i report, without anyone checking my work, so i had to be very careful and always triple-check my work before i send it out
Support & Guidance
during the first half, i had a mentor who was communicating with me almost daily and supporting everything I did. sadly, when my role was changed mid-way through the internship, i received zero to no support in the second half of the year. i no longer has a supervisor and i spoke to my manager like 3 times during the whole time, so i was very much on my own 99% of the time
Culture
Very diverse team and company in general, everyone treats you with respect, people do not treat interns any differently to the permanent employees. I am an international student and i have never felt out of place.
Your Impressions
during the first half, it was perfect - loved my role, received great support and numerous opportunities to improve my personal and professional skills. during the second half, everything changed. my role was changed without anyone asking me if i was okay with this, received very limited support and mentoring, and the opportunities severely decreased. I lost a lot of my motivation in the second half and did not particularly enjoy it
No
Most people are lovely and really respect interns. If you are okay with doing a lot of manual work and are happy in one, rathe stable place, then Intel is the place for you. If you are ambitious and want to improve daily and climb up the corporate ladder, then i'd probably look for jobs elsewhere. I have nothing against the company, i have just noticed that it doesn't provide much opportunity to step up the company ladder
