The Role
I did a real variety of work whilst on my placement, so naturally some I enjoyed more than others, however overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I feel the work I have done for colleagues has always been appreciated, Everyone in my team was really friendly and there to help if needed.
If there was anything I needed at all I always knew i could contact my supervisor. They were always quick to respons and if they were not available there were plenty of other people in the team I could contact if needed.
The work tended to come in waves however there was never a time when I didn't have something to do.
As the placement progressed I was given tasks with more responsibility, although I found this a bit daunting all important work is thoroughly checked by others.
I have learnt to be organised and disciplined in terms of work load, i've learnt office skills and communication skills I hope to carry forward to university and further into my career.
The Company
People are busy and work hard so it isn't constant jokes but people are sociable and chat whilst at their desks. I lunched with my team everyday so it was a good chance to chat then not about work. As the office was quite open plan there was always a buzz of people around.
Overall it was all set up really well, they hold a familiarisation day before you start so you can meet potential housemates and meet your supervisor and team. You are employed through a recruitment company so they set up the contract and pay - it took a while to receive the contract but other than that no major issues.
I attended lots of training courses on various topics such as computer programming, various programming packages. Regular PDP reviews with your supervisor ensure you are keeping to your development plan.

There is currently no statistics graduate scheme so at the moment I am undecided. I would love to work for the company in the future though.
The Culture
As placement students we had regular social events - nights out, dinner, sports. It was great. Socialising with colleagues was less often but christmas parties etc were fun.
We were on the outskirts of London so it really depended where you went. Living was cheap as we weren't very central however if you decided to go out centrally transport back was quite expensive.
Central London was a short train journey away so the nightlife there was good, however where I worked there was not much going on. Nearby towns like Windsor, Ealing had a lot more going on so worth travelling a bit!
I joined a gym close to work however this was about it, it was a case of making the most of it yourself so my housemates and I used to try and do day trips etc
