Overview
Learnt about different aspects of accountancy and what employees of BDO do on a day-to-day basis. Also completed a CSR project on whether buyers should invest into Fenty Beauty by completing a SWOT anaylsis to then make a decision with 3 reasons why.
Skills
Developed using microsoft teams as an application as I used it to share my screen while completing the CSR project. I also naturally took lead of the CSR project and therefore my leadership and delegating skills were developed.
Business Insight
Very insightful as they had speakers from different parts of the company and even some very senior employees giving their experience of what it is like to work for BDO. That was my favourite part to be honest as we had 1 hour sessions on audit, tax and advisory, learning about the potential roles available and how as school leavers, graduates or interns we would then fit in.
Culture
Very good. Very keen to prove to us students that when you join BDO you aren't just 'a cog in the machine' like when you join the big 4 firms. Showed that managers and higher ups genuinely cared about about employees.
Your Impressions
Very much. My favourite part was the project and interacting with other people my age. Hearing about BDO employees' experience was another favourite to me. Overall I really got a good sense of what it was like to work at BDO and found it fulfilling.
Yes
Be yourself. They really want everyone to be themselves when applying so don't try to fake it to fit in.
