Overview
On a day to day basis would invoice lots of things, mainly testing profit and loss sections and the balance sheet sections of different companies, in order to see if the estimated amounts as per our testing matched the clients figures which they had on their financial statements. Other sections would also include checking the accounts which get put onto companies house in order to make sure all the figures are right as per the clients figures and our testing.
Skills
I Have learnt a lot of new skills. For example through my work I have learnt a lot of the different sections of the audit which will help me in the future. I have also developed my excel skills as this is what you are mainly working on. Other things I have improved is my communication skills through talking with the client and other members of the different audit teams I have been on. I have also learnt to use different accounting software's as sometimes we use the clients software such as xero.
Responsibilities
I believe I was given a lot of responsibility as I was put onto balance sheet work earlier than usual, and given more challenging pieces of work. but although sometimes I may have felt overwhelmed with the amount of work. There was always people in the office who were more than willing to help with any problems or queries that I had on such work.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance, as because of the way the audit group worked, I could always talk to the semi-senior senior or manager on the job that I was on. And other people in the office were willing to help you. Each person is also assigned a buddy who is a person more senior than yourself that you can go to with questions and help, and that was very useful.
Culture
The company culture was great, as it seemed that people were always up to do something outside of work which was great. And the general atmosphere in the office was good as well. With things such as admin days in which work events got put on which everyone participated in which was great (such as paintballing barbeques and bowling).
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it thoroughly from the work aspect where the different companies you worked with ensured the job stayed fresh and new, to the social aspect which was one of the best things about the job and made it alot easier moving across the country to somewhere new.
Yes
Depending on the role your applying for, make sure you know about the other different sections of Evelyn Partners, as in the interview you can be asked about this, but also it helps when talking to people in the office as some of the sections of the company you might not have heard or know about.
