Overview
I shadowed my team, assisted with project work, talked to people across the firm, and attended meetings. We looked at a range of things within the team and within the client which meant that I was using Google Sheets, Google Slides, and online calling platforms. I answered emails and helped to support my team with small tasks that I had the skillset for when I had the capacity. I also networked with other people at PwC.
Skills
I have learnt new skills in Excel, Sheets, and Slides; I feel as though I have developed my business acumen and communication skills. Overall, I would say it was a positive experience that allowed me to understand and improve my professional communication. Because I had a lot of tasks on various platforms I was able to improve my Excel skills a lot and became relatively competent with it. I also improved my understanding of PwC.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was, although I think this varied by team. I got to create some work that was shown to the client. Other interns said that due to the nature of their project, they didn't get very much responsibility, but I had quite a lot where there were certain tasks I had to complete or help the team to complete by a certain deadline and there would have been issues if i have not.
Support & Guidance
I recieved a reasonable amount of support and guidance. On some days my team were very busy but they didn't expect me to do lots on my own on those days and were very understanding when they didn't have time to delegate me tasks. My career couch and buddy were very helpful and answered any questions I had which meant that they were like mentors and guides for me, and I was given a lot of useful advice.
Culture
It was great. Everyone seems to be supportive and professional towards one another and my team tried to maintain a positive attitude and good work life balance despite a challenging project. It felt diverse and relatively relaxed. The office atmosphere was also nice and when I was doing coffee chats people were willing to share their time and this meant I could get a wide range of perspective, which meant I could see how widely this perspective was shared.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. It was my first experience in a large company doing an internship and i felt as though we were given a lot of good introductions and explanations which made me more comfortable for the process. I also enjoyed going into the office and being on site in London and it is a nice location to be in. I was a little tired from commuting in so much so that did affect my enjoyment a bit but otherwise it was good.
Yes
As an intern at PwC, I've experienced firsthand the incredible learning and growth that comes with being part of this dynamic firm. From day one, I was welcomed into a collaborative environment where my ideas were valued and my skills were nurtured. The diverse range of projects I've been involved in has given me a well-rounded understanding of the industry, and the guidance from experienced professionals has been invaluable. PwC's commitment to innovation and global impact has inspired me to contribute meaningfully and confidently as I embark on my journey towards a promising career.
