Overview
Week 1: training in excel, python and introduction to global markets. Week 2 to 5: first rotation in one of the desks. Activity consists in shadowing the team and working on a project which directly answers a need for the desk. Week 6 to 9: second rotation on a different team. Week 10: final wrap up week. Other than this, weekly market wraps, market making games and trading games with other interns.
Skills
Yes. Coding (Python, R), Option theory (exotic equity derivatives), FX derivatives (Swaps, futures xxcy swaps), Market knowledge (Central banks, Equities earnings, etc.)
Responsibilities
Yes as much as I could. In a trading desk you are not allowed to trade but my project were on developing tools that the team would actually use. Also working on trading game and market making game you were responsible for the team performance.
Support & Guidance
Sometimes people are very busy. But as long as you are able to keep asking questions sooner or later they will always find time for you.
Culture
Very good culture. Integrity and professionalism, good attitude and politeness. They made you feel like you were really relevant to the company.
Your Impressions
All was new and exciting so I fully enjoyed it. The trading games were pretty time consuming and sometimes time management was hard, but it is part of the learning experience.
Yes
Do not focus too much on the technical aspects. The internship is mostly interacting with people and getting an opportunity to understand the industry from within.
