Overview
For the work placement week, we’d be given lots of talks and every so often in that week we’d be given a task to complete and discuss in a group setting with cc supervisors. the talks would usually be trainees/associates/partners talking about what they do and how they have gotten to where they are today. we’d also have talks on some of clifford chances speciality areas and there was a session or two on application advice
Skills
Not really. Maybe i have increased my eye for detail but other than that, the week consisted of just listening to people talk and taking notes
Business Insight
It was good but not amazing. when people talked to us about this, especially when they would talk about their specific department, i feel as though it could have been put in a more concise and understandable way. i felt as though a lot of the talks surrounding this topic are rather hard to digest and fully understand as the people often went off topic or wouldn’t answer questions directly which was quite frustrating
Culture
Well since this was an online event I can’t really say much but when i went for the in person launch day, they felt really impersonal and the atmosphere was quite grey in a sense. i guess this sort of applies to the talks we had - the people giving us talks looked as though they’d rather be anywhere else but there which was quite off putting and again very monotone and un engaging in my opinion
Your Impressions
to quite a weak extent actually - the lack of engagement and variety of activities bores me quite a bit and has actually put me off clifford chance a bit. there were some really lovely people and the work they do is pretty big but the week itself, like i’ve said, was rather boring and felt quite repetitive in a sense. the speakers never fully and directly answer our questions either so that was also very frustrating

Use the STAR method in interviews and prepare some of the typical competency questions beforehand. List all the activities you do and put them in a table along with what skills you've learnt from it and how it applies to law and this can help you in the interview in case you get stuck. Also, write down the answers to usual questions like why law and stuff but only in bullet points so that it sounds more natural when you say it out loud and build on it then
