Overview
The scheme was one week. The first day consisted of talks on things such as the firm's GFM practice area, code of conduct etc. The remaining four days were mostly spent in one of CC's departments with your supervisor. In the department, you are given work by your supervisor to complete for example reviewing and drafting agreements. You can also complete tasks that graduate recruitment had set. All the tasks I completed were challenging and engaging so are a brilliant learning opportunity.
Skills
Yes. I learnt how to improve my attention to detail, written communication and research skills.
Business Insight
The scheme gives an honest and exciting insight into what life at CC would be like. You have the opportunity to complete trainee tasks, review documents lawyers at CC work on and listen to client calls. All of these opportunities help your understanding of what a lawyer does at CC.
Culture
CC has a warm and inviting culture. People are willing to have chats and take the time to speak to you. I learnt that if you are someone who is willing to work hard you will right in with the firm!
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the scheme. It was great to have the opportunity to do real work for CC, and meet other likeminded SPARK students and lawyers at the firm. The scheme was well balanced in terms of classroom-based activities, networking opportunities, socialising and sitting in the practice area.
Yes
Do as much research into the firm and have confidence in your abilities!
