    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The event involved numerous interactive presentations and group working. Presentations involved Lloyds values, employability skills and so forth. Group work was basic but there to develop communication skills and teamwork. Valuable Q&A sessions to get an insight working for Lloyds and their various early careers options. Interview technique was very valuable for me personally as it gave an insight what they are looking for in assessment centres and how to come across in a manner they are looking for.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I did not develop any new skills however the event did increase my confidence applying to their early careers. If you are new to online meetings and discussions you may gain a greater ability to work online. You may also develop teamworking skills as there was group sessions however the teamworking was very limited in my experience. Also to mention they provided some very interesting sessions about self improvement and building a personal brand which you can apply to yourself.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Understanding about the businesses was valuable as it challenges your preconceived perceptions that may be around banking. The experience was very eye opening how they perceive potential candidates, although on the website they clearly state anyone with a 2:2 can apply, therefore implying they accept a broad range of candidates, the experience definitely emphasised this. This provided greater confidence in myself personally applying to future banking roles due to not going to a "target" university.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture appeared very inclusive and i liked their values. I.e., not being afraid to speak your mind, whilst also being respectful of course. Further, the atmosphere appeared relaxed, although it is difficult to gauge off an insight programme which is perhaps gauged for first year students. However, the presenters were great at building an atmosphere and aspiring confidence, they certainly were well practiced or experienced what they were doing. Challenged my previous ideas.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight very much it provided me greater confidence. Learning about the values was very interesting as well as their various presentations that such as personal brand. The insight could have been improved if there was more detail on specific roles as everything was very broad, for example there was nothing about my career interest for the bank - corproate/commercial banking. Although they brought in experienced individuals they were not part of this section of the bank.

  • 7. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group
  • I would advise, like all other banks, to research their values and company culture. Also knowing the role you applying for, you should know inside and out. You should also be willing to talk in depth about all your experience upon interview, they like to hear about all experience, not just "relevant" experience. This gives candidates, who perhaps not as strongly connected to banking to have an opportunity to work at the bank if they come across as personable.
