Overview
My role involves assisting junior/senior team members with day-to-day activities. On a day-to-day basis, I work alongside colleagues on deals/projects and tasks involved. I am also encouraged to meet with colleagues outside of my chosen rotations to understand more about the bank, as well as insight sessions and culture sessions.
Skills
I have developed a broad range of skills in the time I've spent on the programme. From improving my competency in Excel, to communication in a professional environment. The best skill I have learnt is understanding how to approach deals and important things to think about i.e. looking at deals in a certain way.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility as soon as I hit the desk, but with this amount of responsibility came the equivalent amount of support. I was able to improve my confidence in work and understand how to analyse information and make necessary/ relative improvements.
Support & Guidance
As mentioned, I received support from the entire team in both of my rotations. My colleagues took extra care in explaining tasks and took time to sit down and go through what needed to be done. Their approach to support and guidance meant I was confident enough to reach out to them if needed.
Culture
The culture is absolutely fantastic at this bank - over my time spent in the programme I have not had one less-than-friendly experience within this bank. I was able to talk to them about non-work related matters such as weekend plans and attend social events which made me feel part of a community.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my internship so far - the breadth of knowledge I have gained about the industry has equally been matched with the cultural exposure at MUFG. I've attended many social and charity events alongside honing my skills as an employee. I've also formed my own opportunities to make the most out of this programme, such as setting up shadowing sessions.
Yes
MUFG is both a trusted bank that provides a stimulating job with a flexible work-life balance, alongside a nurturing culture and ethos. Overall, a great bank to work at.
