The Role
Very enjoyable. I met a lot of down-to-earth, sociable people in the firm and found all my work and tasks very interesting.
Whenever I had done a good job on a piece of work the person who set me the work would let me know straight away and would always give feedback.
I was given a lot of guidance by the people setting the tasks and they made the effort to make me feel comfortable with asking any questions that I had.
Whenever I was in the department I always had tasks to complete and whenever I needed work I could approach others in the department for more work. Furthermore, when we were not in the department there was other activities to get involved in.
I was given many of the tasks that you would expect of a trainee and even given the task of writing articles that would have my supervisors name on, who was a partner.
Skills haven't been as developed as such but I have been able to see what it would be like as a trainee at the firm and indeed what it may be like at other firms.
The Company
Extremely sociable, down-to-earth, helpful and very welcoming.
There was always a set plan and we were given timetables for the work we would be doing, which meant we were never at a loose end.
The supervisor and trainees always took the time to explain the things that they were giving me and would always be open to discuss career plans and the work they were currently doing.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I would absolutely love to work here. The quality of the work being done is on par with the other top firms in the country but the culture definitely makes it a very attractive working environment where I feel I could grow but enjoy it. However, it will be extremely competitive to get the training contract given the amount of quality candidates on the vac scheme.
The Culture
We always arranged to go out for lunch together when we couldm,we were taken out one night by the trainees and we have made plans a couple of times to go out after work. Whilst emails have always been flying about!
The general living costs in Leeds are very reasonable. People often travelled into work or stayed at friends house in leeds.
Having been a student here, I am fully aware of the night life in Leeds and it is still going!
There wasn't much going on outside of social activities but if my trainee was ever involved in charity work or meetings he would always invite me along.
