Overview
Communicating with my team and actively lending a hand with current projects. When with less work, I could be sitting in on meetings, organizing meetings with other people in finance or self-led learning/intern-project work.
Skills
I have developed my Excel and general computer skills, communication skills and gained a greater understanding of how corporate finance in the financial sector functions.
Responsibilities
I was given enough responsibility, especially as an intern. I was able to take on work and mini projects as my own, but also didn't feel as though I had to take on too much that pushed me out of my depth.
Support & Guidance
I had a line manager and a grad buddy as my primary support figures. However, everyone I met at the bank was nothing but supportive if and when I asked for their help.
Culture
It was a healthy company culture. As an intern, there was no expectation for working overtime, and we weren't just given the 'grunt work.' Overall, it was a happy place to work.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship as it gave me an insight into what a career in finance could look like, and how the corporate world works. Interning at NatWest gave me the ability to push myself and learn, without fear; everyone was nothing but supportive.
Yes
Stay positive! If you're the right fit for the company, and the company is the right fit for you, it will work out.
